His Excellency, Senator
Douye Diri, Governor of Bayelsa State, today formally received over 100 decampees from the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area to the People's Democratic Party (PDP), at Government House, Yenagoa.
Hon. Oyeinkuro Kime, a two-time former councilor from Amassoma, who spoke on behalf of the decampees who preferred to be called 'returnees', noted that though they may have left due to some grievances, but are now fully back to the party they helped built.
The decampees who are high ranking stakeholders and grassroot mobilizers in the state, expressed their satisfaction with the policies and programs of the prosperity government, and also the body language of the unity loving miracle governor.
Also, many of the workers of the Darlon Security and Guards LTD, who defected to the PDP said it has been tough for their families as they were being owed several months salaries by the Oil Surveillance company.
Gov. Diri, while receiving them, appreciated the leaders of Southern Ijaw LGA, the Political Adviser and the PDP State reconciliation committee for their efforts, and called for united front as one Ijaw people for the betterment of and development of Bayelsa State and Bayelsans, without the politics of bitterness and bloodshed.
"Let me appreciate the leadership of Southern Ijaw, and the reconciliation committee for these efforts.
We have come with light, and for whatever it is, as Bayelsans, God has made us brothers and sisters."
At the decamping ceremony was the Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, the State PDP Chairman, Chief Solomon Agwuana, former Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Tonye Isenah, member representing Southern Ijaw Constituency One, Hon. Felix Bonny Ayah, and member representing Kolokuma/Opokuma Constituency two, Hon. Wisdom Fafi.
